The one-acre pond is bordered with a red-toned Chelsea limestone and stocked with bluegills, sunfish, bass, catfish, and grass carp.
Patio
A 40' x 60' area for special events, gatherings and rentals.
The Gathering
A granite pedestal with eight small areas for stacking cairns. Visitors are invited to bring a stone from anywhere in the world.
Sacred Stone Circle
These stones are from the Island of Flores, one of the Indonesian Islands. They were quarried with stone chisels more than 4,000 years ago and moved to Iowa City in 2004. The stone are buried about half their length allowing them to root to the earth.
Harvest Shrine
A place conducive to small ceremonies to celebrate significant family events. Isolated and quiet with a beautiful view of Iowa countryside. By special arrangement, the Shine offers a restroom and service road for easy access.

The Rescue Sculpture
Bronze sculpture by Glenna Goodacre. The Rescue depicts a group of children attempting to rescue a reluctant cat.
Casita Laguna
The name means “little house on the pond.” The rafters for the roof were cut from floor joists salvaged out of Saint Patrick’s church after it was destroyed by a tornado in 2006.
Olympic Wannabes Sculpture
Bronze sculpture by Glenna Goodacre. Olympic Wannabes depicts six children in various stages of a familiar cartwheel.
Relationships Sculpture
More than 4,000 years ago, halfway around the world, in what is now know as the Indonesian Archipelago, these “basalt columns” were formed in the cooling process at the core of an ancient volcano. The current installment was designed by Linda Paul, and can be seen as symbolizing a wide range of types of relationships: between people within families; between families within communities; between the distant past and our present time; or between opposite sides of the world.
Butterfly House
This little yellow house provides a safe harbor for monarch & swallowtail butterflies. During years where caterpillars are available, Harvest Preserve takes them inside to protect them from wasps, flies, and other predators. Butterflies are released after they emerge from the pupa or chrysalis.
Whitman's Glade &
They Are Waiting Sculpture
Walt Whitman said that poetry is most special when read outside. We agree. Whitman's Glade is a patio made of Colorado red sandstone. It's a great place to sit quietly. They are Waiting is a bronze sculpture by Nnamdi, an artist born in Nigeria who now lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. The bench is slab of Indiana limestone on which the weary women sit.
Sitting Man
Carved in 2013 by Douglas Paul and JB Barnhouse. The sculpture consists of 12 blocks of limestone. Moved to Harvest Preserve in 2020.
Visionary Stone
Dee Norton Memorial
Situated at the top of a hill on the west side of Scott Blvd. A special site overlooking a wide expanse of scenic beauty. Visitors are afforded the opportunity to sit quietly and breathe in the inspiring panorama.
