Natural Dye Workshop

You are warmly invited to our hands-on natural dye and sun print workshop. Together we will spend the day learning how to transform natural dyes and objects into stunning works of art.

You will learn the essentials of fiber preparation (scouring and mordanting), explore textile design techniques like tie-dye and traditional Japanese shibori and work directly with onion, walnut, and indigo dye pots.  

You will go home with six total dyed pieces and a few cyanotype sun prints! We will provide the dyeing textiles for the workshop, but each participant can bring 1-2 tee-shirt sized or smaller pieces to use in the indigo pot.

Bonus Sun Printing: While our pots simmer for about an hour, we will get to play with cyanotypes and natural materials so you can capture the magic of the sun on paper! Feel free to bring any of your own dried plant material for experimentation.
